Stuffed Pillow Pets Make Cuddly Friends For Small Children

The cute and furry pillow pets advertised and seen in many stores are fun for small children. They are also very functional for long trips and short weekend stays with friends or family. They come in many different animal shapes, which makes them a great gift idea for nearly any child who has a favorite zoo character. The product combines the functionality of a pillow and overnight bag with the looks of a stuffed animal.

What makes these items so fun are the various bright colors and facial expressions. Each animal has its own color scheme. The red and black ladybug, yellow and black bumblebee or the light blue and sea colored dolphin are among the many options. There are dogs, monkeys, pandas, unicorns and many more to choose from. The entire collection includes 12 different animals, divided into farm, sea and zoo animals.

What makes these products so handy is the strap that keeps them folded and closed when not in use. This is a great feature for storing a small blanket, pajamas or an extra pair of clothes. The hook and loop is easy for even the smallest of children to manipulate.

The pillow pets are made of a fabric that is very soft to the touch and remains soft after washing when instructions are followed carefully. They are machine washable when placed inside a white pillow case and washed on the gentle cycle with cold water. Children will enjoy snuggling with them at bed time or using them for a short afternoon nap. There are so many different animal options that even large families can buy a different one for each child. For a complete list and pictures of each selection offered, you can visit the official product website. This is also where the items can be purchased.

There are some advantages to making the purchase online. The various animals can be purchased in many retail and drug stores. However, stores do not offer discounts after the first animal purchased. When ordering online, each additional animal is less than the original .95 price. Most stores sell each subsequent animal at the full price. In addition, after the first online order, there is the option of selecting the blanket or backpack.

One of the advantages of having a product like this is that kids may not need other stuffed animals on the bed, which can be detrimental to those suffering from allergies. Not only do pillow pets make great gifts for kids, they are a good option for expectant mothers at baby showers and for grandparents who have grandchildren visiting frequently.

Bunny Stuffed Animal Toys

Bunny Stuffed Animal Toys

Some would argue that there is nothing that says childhood like a teddy bear - the iconic plush toy that was created in 1902 by Margarete Steiff. It's true that it's tough to beat the teddy bear when it comes to all things related to childhood, however, bunny stuffed animals could very well give them a run for their money. Unlike the wild bears in which the teddy bear was originally modelled after, rabbits are a wild animal that can be kept as a pet. Given this is the case, a child can actually be given the rare opportunity of holding and cuddling something they have likely seen in the wild - certainly a treat for any child. A bunny plush animal is just further extension of the love children have for their cherished pet rabbits. And, for those not fortunate enough to have a pet rabbit, a bunny stuffed animal is always
a lovely alternative.

My Pillow Pets

Rabbits are often referred to as 'bunnies' or 'bunny rabbits' - a pet name for rabbits when they're young. Rabbits typically live in burrows underground; they are built to include several exits and entrances so as to make escaping (if necessary) easier. Their burrows are called 'warrens' which have a place for waste, another for babies, and still another for sleeping. While a rabbit is pregnant, its fur will grow thicker which the female then pulls for use as a safe place for the babies to sleep and nurse. Newborn rabbits have no discernible odor or smell which helps to keep them hidden and protected from predators.

Like the animals they replicate, bunny stuffed animals are available in a wide variety of sizes and colors. In addition, a bunny stuffed animal can be purchased with ears standing straight up or with long ears that flop over - referred to as a 'Lop rabbit.' Bunny stuffed animals also have different body types; some are very soft with legs that dangle which allows for posing them in both sitting or lying positions; others have harder bodies that stand stand straight up and cannot be moved from that position.

Lop (floppy eared rabbits) are often the preferred species of rabbit to have as a house pet as they are known for their easygoing nature. There are several species of Lop rabbit including: French Lop, English Lop, Mini Lop, American Fuzzy Lop, and the Holland Lop. All rabbits are very social animals and can be terrific companions for children, however, they do require a great deal of attention and care. For those not interested or willing to put in the time to care for a pet rabbit, a bunny stuffed animal is really the next best thing. Some bunny stuffed animals are so life-like, in fact, it's difficult tell if it's the real thing or not.

My First Best Friend Was A Stuffed Animal!

My First Best Friend Was A Stuffed Animal!

Lots of people wonder why stuffed animals are one of the top children's toys. Well, these have been classic children's toys for generations, being made commercially as far back as the 1880s and having booming success until today. Those little boys and girls of yesteryear loved toy bears, or "Teddy" bears after the American President Theodore Roosevelt when he refused to shoot a tied-up bear cub during a bear hunt. The German toymaker saw a legend in the making when the more famous newspapers featured caricatures of the refusal and decided to take the opportunity to honor the President. And the rest, as they say, is history.

My Pillow Pets

Although, people have been making stuffed animals for longer than that. These were little scraps lovingly fashioned into a "lovey" for little children from leftover or recycled materials that came from old sheets, blankets, quilts, and clothing. It was a true source of comfort for these children who didn't have quite an easy life. Children all over the world love stuffed toys and it's not a surprise. These are little friends in a child's active imagination, friends to talk to, to share secrets with, and to have fun with. These friends don't add to a hurt and neither do they scold. They're there to make life better. They're there to make the world a little more secure.

These children's toys have evolved more than bears into almost any form that a person can dream of and then some. There are only a few people who have a childhood that has not been made better with one or another kind of stuffed toy. They've become popular among adults as well, with collectors growing in many different countries. It seems that the appeal of the "best friend" reaches far and wide. And the stuffed toy has taken on a life of its own, it seems. There are now websites for popular stuffed animals and other plush toys where the toys can be played with in a virtual world. So now, children's daydreams of their toys coming to life have come true, in a way. These are the best companions for a child. They've long been loved and will continue that way forever.

Plush Stuffed Animals Personalize Gift Baskets

Plush Stuffed Animals Personalize Gift Baskets

Gift giving should be something personal and special to the person to whom the gift is given. Gift baskets make it easy to personalize your gift. Stuffed animals make an even greater expression of something as easy and special as a gift basket. Here are some ideas to help make it easy for you.

My Pillow Pets

First, think about the person you are giving to. Are they male, female, boy or girl? What are their interests or hobbies? What would be most appreciated by the recipient? Once you have decided on an appropriate theme you can have fun selecting the items and putting together your very personalized gift basket. Now let's have some fun with these ideas.

A gift for a tea lover can be quite fun. Select a basket with an opening of about 15" and line the basket with a pair of table napkins in a gingham or country print. Then fill with an assortment of flavored teas, a pair of floral teacups, some shortbread cookies or other tea cookies, and top it off with a 12" or 18" posable plush stuffed animal bunny. Place the basket in the middle of a long strip of clear or colored cellophane (about 60") and bring the corners up to the top. Tie a colorful ribbon around the cellophane above the basket to secure it. Add a gift tag or greeting card. Now you have a very personalized gift basket to give. For a variation, select an oriental pattern of napkins and teacups and a variety of oriental teas. Top with a 12" or 18" posable panda bear stuffed animal.

Let's say you are giving to a man; is he the outdoor sportsman type or is he the type that prefers the open sea? For the outdoor type you might choose a rugged looking basket made of grapevine or willow. Then fill with a sporting or biking magazine, an assortment of energy bars or trail mix, a bottle of spring water, bug repellent and sunscreen. Now top it off with a realistic looking 12" or 18" stuffed animal bear, fox, wolf or moose. Wrap with cellophane and tie with rope or heavy twine for a more sporty look. For variation, select a zoology magazine and top the assortment with a stuffed animal lion, tiger, orangutan or polar bear. For an aquatic theme, select a fishing basket or similar wicker or reed basket; fill with a boating magazine and an assortment as above or snacks and beverages and top with a plush stuffed animal whale, dolphin or octopus.

Creating a gift basket for a child can be lots of fun. Select a basket that can be used for storing smaller toys in later. Fill with a few bananas, snacks, crayons, and zoo or jungle animal coloring books. Then add a 12" or 18" stuffed animal monkey, giraffe, tiger or lion. Wrap and tie with colorful ribbons.

These are just a few of the endless possibilities of personalized gift baskets you can create by adding plush stuffed animals. Let your imagination run wild and have fun giving gift baskets!

My Pillow Pets Review: The Cuddly Stuffed Animals That Unfold Into a Soft, Plush Pillow

My Pillow Pets have become the absolute must-have toy of 2010. If your kids haven't been hounding you for one already, I promise you they will. Pillow Pets are soft, plush animals that unfold into a comfy pillow for road trips, trips to grandma's house & even short trips into mommy and daddy's bed in the middle of the night.

Pillow Pets come in a variety of animals including: a puppy, a unicorn, a bumblebee, a monkey, a ladybug, a frog, a dolphin, a penguin & a panda bear. They are approximately 18-inches wide when unfolded, which is perfect for both the bedroom and the vehicle.

My Pillow Pets

When I brought these cuddly little critters home to my 4 and 6-year old, believe me when I tell you that daddy was a hero.

My four-year-old boy got the monkey (against my wife's wishes... she has a monkey phobia). This monkey goes to bed with him, travels with him to mommy & daddy's room every morning and would go with him to preschool if we allowed. Well, we did allow it for show-n-tell one day for the letter M.

My six-year-old daughter opted for the unicorn Pillow Pet. She is equally attached. Every other weekend, her unicorn pillow travels with her to grandma's house. And, of course, when we took off to the beach for the weekend, our new pets had to come along for the ride. Except these guys didn't require a pet deposit.

My Pillow Pets are a great addition to any family. Your children really will get much pleasure out of this one.
