How Do I Stop My Cat From Waking Me Up at Night?

How Do I Stop My Cat From Waking Me Up at Night?

Almost all new cat owners experience sleepless nights when they first get their new cat. In fact according to one study pets are one of the leading causes of insomnia and sleep loss in America.

One of the more common experiences when getting a new cat is the cat always tries to sleep up near your head by the pillow when you are trying to sleep. And if you try to lock the cat outside the door it will only sit there and cry until you break down and get up and let it back in.

And so how do you go about getting some shut eye but still keep your cat happy and satisfied?

First of all remember that cats are very active at night. Cats sleep all day and then when it's time for bed for you they are out walking around jumping on your kitchen counters.

To solve this, instead of just sitting and watching TV before bedtime go ahead and play with your cat vigorously for least 15 minutes. The more you can play with your cat the more tired out that they will become.

You should also feed your cat right before you go to bed as well. This will keep them distracted and normally after eating cats will sit and groom for a long time.

So by using the combination of exercising them and feeding them right before your bed time you should be able to increase the amount of shuteye that you get every night.
